Get ready for a great organic experience. A good bow making workshop happens outdoors as much as possible. Sure, we’ll talk under the porch if it starts to rain, but to watch your bow come alive under the light of the sun is one of the biggest gifts of participating in these workshops.
There’s nothing quite like the gleam of Osage Orange as it’s being worked throughout the light of the day. Fresh air, the smell of the wood, and nothing else to think about but making your bow having a great time with friends new and old. The boys and I made one as our “family project” under his epic guidance two years ago! We had such an amazing, beyond priceless experience…the uncovering of the beautiful bow inside the raw, sacred Osage Orange without power tools was quite a journey…it became a powerful metaphor for life for us! And Lonnie is such a wise and fun teacher!
